Biography:

Daniel Boxill is a young multi-discipline Barbadian artist focusing primarily on music, literary arts as well as graphic design and digital art. His work reflects minimalist and contemporary design aesthetics.

For almost two decades, he has been working as a freelance graphic designer and visual artist, creating branding and artwork for both print and digital mediums. This has included logos, social media banners, flyers, magazines and print ads for local and regional individuals, companies and organisations. He also has trained in photography/videography which has allowed him to work as part of the online broadcast team of the Barbados Secondary Athletics Championships (BSSAC) better known as Inter-School Sports and has worked as a videographer at Reggae on the Hill for Livity and Escaban Studios’ artists as well as for the Manchester racing team from the UK at the Festival of Speed.

Daniel was awarded a Bachelor of Arts in Literatures in English from the University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus where he served as Publications Committee Chairperson on the Guild of Students. He has also worked as a freelance journalist, Commonwealth Youth Correspondent, editor, proofreader and contributor to various local, regional and international publications. He has won several NIFCA awards for his poetry, some of which have been published in anthologies alongside top Barbadian writers and he was nominated for Poet of the year in the inaugural GineOn Magazine People’s Choice Awards. He has performed at or been a featured part of the BIM Literary Festival, Bridgetown Market and Mahalia’s Corner among other events. His debut solo collection was launched in 2020 and was nominated for Book of the Year in the 2021 GineOn People’s Choice Awards.

As a musician, he has reached the finals of the NIFCA Performing Arts competition as a member of the combined schools steel pan orchestra and has performed at the 2007 Cricket World Cup, various Crop Over events, ceremonies and events. He also consults on music projects with Escaban Studios, where he has previously worked as a music producer. Additionally, he is currently developing his skills on the violin and also plays the acoustic guitar.

Daniel also has a passion for his philanthropy and service to his communities. He currently sits as the first Barbados Representative to the Caribbean and the Americas’ Regional Working Group of the Commonwealth Students’ Association.
